Together we're building a future where no one faces rare diseases alone
At YOHRA, we believe that young voices have the power to revolutionize rare disease advocacy. Our youth empowerment initiatives go beyond traditional mentorship – we're creating a new generation of healthcare leaders who bring fresh perspectives and digital-native approaches to longstanding challenges in rare disease advocacy.
Through our comprehensive Leadership Development Program, young advocates aged 16-30 receive structured training that combines practical skills with real-world experience. This 12-month curriculum includes project management, public speaking, advocacy training, and grant writing workshops. Each participant is matched with experienced healthcare professionals who provide one-on-one mentorship, ensuring personal growth and professional development.
Our Youth Ambassador Program takes empowerment further by giving young advocates regional representation roles. These ambassadors lead community outreach efforts, organize events, and drive social media advocacy campaigns. They become the bridge between medical professionals and patient communities, bringing unique insights and innovative solutions to the table.
What sets our approach apart is our commitment to meaningful participation. Young advocates aren't just participants – they're decision-makers who hold positions on our International Board of Directors and Advisory Councils. Their perspectives shape our strategic planning, program development, and future initiatives. By investing in youth leadership today, we're ensuring more effective and innovative rare disease advocacy for tomorrow.
